Barret Giehl is a former college dropout, sandwich maker, and nuclear water chemist on a submarine. He is a current father to three children, husband to one wife, and MFA candidate in poetry at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Barret works at UNCW’s Publishing Laboratory where, among other things, he contributes spread designs for Ecotone. He previously held positions on the staffs of Lookout Books and Chautauqua Journal.

Barret’s writing focuses on family, community, and class.
